Women's Basketball: Huntington 86, IU East 75

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's basketball team closed out the Forester Classic at Huntington University with an 86-75 loss to the host school on Saturday, Nov. 11.

IU East is 2-3 as Huntington improves to 2-2.

Taylor Ferris topped the Red Wolves with 34 points. Trinity Archey was next with eight points, while Alli Vaughn, Tia Tolbert and Caitlin McEldowney each finished with seven points.

Huntington's Gabi Melby had a game-high 41 points for the Foresters.

Kennedy Griffin gave the Red Wolves an 11-8 lead with 2:33 remaining in the opening period. Huntington responded to lead 17-14 at the end of the frame.

McEldowney's 3-pointer cut IU East's deficit to 32-21 at the 1:28 mark of the second quarter, but the Foresters maintained a 38-33 advantage by the intermission.  

In the third period, Huntington worked its lead to double digits before ending on top 60-52. IU East closed the gap to four points on three occasions during the final stanza, but Huntington was able to hold off the Red Wolves.

The Red Wolves return home for their next contest against the University of St. Francis (Ind.) on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The game gets underway at 5:30 p.m.
