Women's Basketball: IU East 67, Brescia 48

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's basketball team evened its River States Conference record with a 67-48 victory over Brescia University on Saturday, Dec. 16.

With the win on Lingle Court, IU East is now 2-2 in the league with an overall mark of 5-6. Brescia is 4-7 and 0-3.

Current RSC Player of the Week Taylor Farris led the Red Wolves with 25 points as she grabbed five rebounds.

Davina Smith added 11 points. Smith and Trinity Archey pulled down seven rebounds apiece.

The opening period was tight as both teams held leads, but Smith's basket with 12 seconds remaining in the frame gave the Red Wolves a 10-9 lead.

IU East scored the first six point of the second period and the Red Wolves would go on to a 28-19 lead at the intermission.

In the third quarter, IU East took control of the affair outscoring the Bearcats by 19 points to lead 53-25 on the way to the win.

Next up for the Red Wolves is the Governors State University Winter Classic in Illinois on Dec. 28-29. IU East opens the event against Missouri Baptist University before facing the host squad on the final day.
