UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. - The Indiana University East women's basketball team won its second straight contest with a 78-70 victory over Missouri Baptist University in the Governors State University Winter Classic on Thursday, Dec. 28.
The Red Wolves evened their record at 6-6, while Missouri Baptist is 2-6.
Davina Smith topped the Red Wolves with 24 points, while Taylor Farris finished with 19 as Kennedy Griffin tossed in 15.
Smith and Peyton Wells led IU East with seven rebounds.
The game was tied 14-14 at the first stop before the Spartans grabbed a 35-32 advantage at the intermission.
After three quarters, Missouri Baptist led 56-52 before the Red Wolves rallied in the final stanza outscoring the Spartans by 12 points on the way to the win.
IU East finishes the two-day event against Governors State on Friday, Dec. 29. The contest gets underway at 4 p.m.
