UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. - The Indiana University East women's basketball team had its two-game winning streak snapped as the Red Wolves fell 70-44 to the host school in the Governors State University Winter Classic on Friday, Dec. 29.
The Red Wolves are now 6-7, while the Jaguars raised their season mark to 11-3.
Davina Smith topped the Red Wolves with 18 points and seven rebounds in the Athletics and Recreation Center.
Kenzie Hudgen was next for IU East with nine points.
After grabbing a 15-9 advantage during the first quarter, the Red Wolves struggled in the second period.
The Jaguars took an 18-17 lead at the 4:46 mark of the second frame before building a 34-23 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, Governors State maintained its edge on the way to the win.
Next up for the Red Wolves is a home contest against Miami University-Middletown on Thursday, Jan. 4. The game on Lingle Court starts at 5:30 p.m.
