PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Davina Smith flirted with another double-double but the IU East women's basketball team fell to Shawnee State on Tuesday, 74-55.
Smith scored 17 points with eight rebounds. Kennedy Griffin was also in double figures with 10.
The loss drops the Red Wolves to 8-9 on the season and 3-4 in RSC play. The Bears improved to 11-7 overall and 4-4 in conference.
Shawnee was able to start the game with a 6-0 run in the first two minutes. The Red Wolves were able to claw back to get within two points as Griffin hit a 3-pointer, as they trailed 10-8 halfway through the first. That was the closest they would get for the rest of the game as the team was dealing with an illness, not playing with a full and healthy squad.
The Bears outscored the Red Wolves 53-39 in the last three quarters.
IU East will travel to Point Park on Saturday.
