Women's Golf: IU East at Heritage Hill Collegiate Day 1 Recap

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. - The Indiana University East women's golf team finished the opening round of the Heritage Hill Collegiate in second place on Saturday, March 25.

Originally scheduled for two rounds on Saturday, only the first was completed by all of the teams in the event.

IU East posted a team score of 348 at the Heritage Hill Golf Club, which puts the Red Wolves behind Spalding University with a 335. Host Lawrence Tech University is third with 360.

Individually, IU East has three players in the top 10.

Brooklynn Cromwell topped IU East with an 84 that has her tied for third.

"It was a really windy and chilly day out on the course today," Cromwell said. "My ball striking wasn't bad, but my short game and a few putts cost me. Glad to see there were a few others that put the wind behind them to put up some more scores in the 80s. Tomorrow is a new day and I plan on playing and seeing the team play better."

Katie Craig is fifth with an 85.

"I feel like I hit the ball pretty solid today," Craig said. "My putting could have been a little bit better. The wind definitely played a huge factor and the course played soggy. I'm proud of the team and can't wait to see what tomorrow holds."

Jalyn Bruns carded an 86 as she is tied for sixth.

Rounding out the scores for IU East were Annie Gillock (93, T16th) and Josalyn Lewis (97, 25th).

The teams will resume the second round on Sunday and then play the scheduled final 18 for a total of 54 holes.
