Women's Golf: Midway University Eagle Invitational Day 2 Recap

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Indiana University East women's golf team finished the two-day event at the Midway University Eagle Invitational on April 4.

The Red Wolves were seventh of eight squads on the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky.

"Although we played at a beautiful course this week, I'm very disappointed with the way the team and myself played both days," Brooklynn Cromwell said. "I ended up scoring better today than I did yesterday, but I still left quite a few simple putts out there that should've been made and would've helped me tremendously. It shows how important one shot can really be."

IU East ended the final round with a team score of 359-346-705.

"Really happy how Brooklynn bounced back from her finish yesterday," IU East coach Billy Mullin said. "We never could really gain any momentum from a team aspect. We need to start capitalizing more on our short game."

Annie Gillock led the Red Wolves with an 86-86-172 to finish 25th. Brooklynn Cromwell was 26th after carding a 91-82-173.

The other scores for IU East were Katie Craig 89-93-182 (T34th), Josalyn Lewis 93-89-182 (T34th) and Jalyn Bruns 96-89-185 (T38th).

Marian University's Sidney Parmer (76-74-150) was the medalist as she led the Knights to the team championship (304-311-615).

Next up for the Red Wolves is the IU East Tournament at Forest Hills on April 14-15.

"As we come to the last two tournaments of the year, we definitely need to straighten up our act and play like we know we can," Cromwell said. "It's easier said than done, but I have full faith in the team and myself and look forward to hosting the next tournament."
