Women's Golf: IU East Spring Invitational Day 1 Recap

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team is tied for second place after the opening day at the Forest Hills Country Club on April 14.

Oakland City University leads the IU East Spring Invitational with a team score of 337, while the Red Wolves and IU Kokomo are tied with 343. Brescia University is fourth at 352.

Three individuals are at the top of the leaderboard after 18 holes.

IU East's Brooklynn Cromwell carded a 79 to match Hallie Hinton of Oakland City and Colby Reeder of Brescia.

"I had a solid day with my driver and was sinking a lot of putts that helped me," Cromwell said. "Although I managed to get three birdies out of my round, I ended up with three doubles, which hurt my score."

"Some bogies can be ok, but I can't have doubles like that," Cromwell continued. "Overall, I'm pleased to finally put a score up before 80."

Annie Gillock is sixth for IU East after a round of 84.

The other scores for IU East were Katie Craig (T11th, 89), Jalyn Bruns (T16th, 91) and Josalyn Lewis (20th, 95)

"The weather was pretty nice all day and the course looked great," Cromwell said. "I look forward to playing better tomorrow and seeing the team score go down."

Day two of the event gets underway with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
