Red Wolves Close Out Fall Season with a Second Place Finish
MUNCIE, Ind. – The IU East women's golf team finished second in their Red Wolves Fall Invitational Saturday.
The Red Wolves finished the rainy and windy Day 2 with a score of 341.
"Cold and damp day at Delaware CC, but on a day when most of the field shot higher in Round 2 than the first round, we had six of our 10 girls shoot better or the same today than yesterday," coach Billy Mullin said.
Liv Sanders finished the best for the Red Wolves with an 82 and finished 10th overall.
"We played well on a challenging course with tough winds on both days," Sanders said. "I had my driver going all weekend which gave me some confidence to end the season and get ready to prepare for the Spring season. Overall it was a good weekend with a tough field of players."
Brookylnn Cromwell was right behind Sanders, finishing with an 87 on Day 2 for 11th place. Jalyn Bruns finished 13th with a 91 in Round 2. Sophia Curry (84, 16th), Katie Craig (83, 17th), Lainey Jackson (88, 21st), Jozzy Lewis (96, 25th), Baylee Wissler (99, 35th), Gracie Williams (99, 36th), and Ashlynne Osborne (105, 41st) rounded out the golfers for the Red Wolves.
"Recently I had been struggling with my golf swing but today it started to come around to get me through the day," Katie Craig said. My short game was very good and I made several long putts and chipped in. I am proud of the team today for finishing in tough conditions and look forward to a great spring season."
Coach Mullin was pleased for his team in the fall season.
"I was happy for Katie posting a solid round," coach Mullin said. "We had a good fall season and we will go into our winter season looking to get better. Our goals are still right in front of us."
