Women's Golf Opens Up Spring Season
OPELIKA, Ala. – The IU East women's golf team finished the first round of the Lawrence Tech University Spring Break Invitational tied for sixth as the team shot a 328.
"Beautiful day for golf with the temperatures in the upper 70s," head coach Billy Mullin said. "The round was extremely long, so our girls did a great job showing patience and maintaining composure."
Liv Sanders led the Red Wolves with an opening-round 80.
"We all put up respectable numbers considering it is our first tournament of the Spring season," Sanders said. "My ball striking kept me in the game today when my putting struggled. Looking forward to see what we can do as a team tomorrow."
Respectable, indeed.
Brooklynn Cromwell finished the round with an 81, followed by Lainey Jackson's 83 and Katie Craig's 84. Jalyn Bruns (87), Sophia Curry (92), Baylee Wissler (98), and Ashlynne Osborne (119) rounded out the scorers for the Red Wolves.
"Liv, Brooklyn, Lainey, and Katie played well today on a difficult course," Mullin said. "I also thought Baylee hit a lot of good shots. Our goal is to improve tomorrow."
The Red Wolves will finish up the LTU Spring Break Invite Friday.
