Women's Soccer: IU East 1, Shawnee State 1

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - The Indiana University East women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Shawnee State University on Thursday, Oct. 3.

After the River States Conference contest on the Shawnee Turf, the Red Wolves are now 1-6-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the league. Shawnee State is 0-6-2, 0-2-1.

The Bears scored in the opening period as Carlota Ipina Taylor made it 1-0 at 40:33.

In the second half, IU East's Ava Wittrock tied the affair at 54:42 with an assist from Katherine Lopez Cruz.

Goalkeeper Kylie O'Leary recorded three saves for IU East as the Red Wolves had a 12-4 advantage in shots.

Next up for IU East is a home match against WVU Tech (3-2-3, 1-0-1) on Saturday, Oct. 5. The start at Eaton (Ohio) High School is 3 p.m.
