Women's Soccer: Whitehead Named Head Coach for the Red Wolves

RICHMOND, Ind. - Indiana University East has a new women's head soccer coach for the 2025 season as Red Wolves assistant Dylan Whitehead takes over the program starting on Tuesday, July 1.

"I'm incredibly honored and excited to be named the head women's soccer coach at IU East," Whitehead said.

"Thank you to IU East athletic director Joe Griffin and the selection committee for the opportunity and for believing in me to lead the program," Whitehead added. "I'm looking forward to building something special with our student-athletes moving forward."

Whitehead served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Red Wolves since the start of the 2023 season.

"We are pleased that we can announce Dylan Whitehead as the new head women's soccer coach at IU East," Griffin said. "Dylan has been the assistant the last two seasons with last year ending in a close loss in the River States Conference championship match."

The Red Wolves begin the upcoming season at home against Madonna University in Centerville on Thursday, Aug. 21.

"Dylan has been a big part of building the current roster and we are looking forward as he takes his first head coaching position," Griffin said.

"He has been a part of several MidSouth soccer programs as an assistant coach and he knows the area well along with the talent rich Cincinnati area," Griffin continued. "Dylan is now looking for his assistant to fill out the coaching staff but will be hitting it hard in another month as the Red Wolves kick off his inaugural HC season this August."

Graduating with a bachelor's degree in Sports Studies from Shawnee State, Whitehead earned his master's in Sports Management from Morehead State University, while being volunteer assistant at the Kentucky NCAA Div. I school with the women's soccer team in 2017.

After spending four years as the assistant men's coach at Georgetown College, Whitehead was the associate head coach at Shawnee State University for the 2021 season.
