Women's Soccer: IU East 2, Anderson 1
RICHMOND, Ind. - Asia Espiritu scored the game-winner in the final moments for the Indiana University East women's soccer team as the Red Wolves defeated Anderson University 2-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
With the victory at Centerville High School, IU East is now 2-3-1, while the Ravens fall to 2-2.
As the contest headed for a possible draw, Espiritu found the back of the net with 1:02 remaining in the non-conference match with an assist from Zaryah Griffin.
The Red Wolves fell behind early in the opening half as the Ravens scored at the 8:53 mark.
Later in the frame, Espiritu scored her first goal of the affair to tie the contest at 23:32 as Griffin assisted on the play.
Goalkeeper Elizabeth Sarfo-Bens had a pair of saves for the Red Wolves.
IU East returns to action with a visit to Earlham College on Saturday, Sept. 13. The match in Matlack-Messer Soccer Stadium starts at 1 p.m.
