Women's Soccer: IU East 1, Shawnee State 0

EATON, Ohio - A goal early in the second half proved to be the difference as the Indiana University East women's soccer team defeated Shawnee State University 1-0 at Eaton High School on Saturday, Oct. 4.

With the River States Conference victory, the Red Wolves are 5-4-2 overall and 2-1 in the league. Shawnee State falls to 2-8-1, 1-2.

Amyah Thacker scored her third goal of the season at the 46:52 mark of the affair to give IU East a 1-0 advantage. Asia Espiritu assisted on the play.

Espiritu is the leading scorer this season for the Red Wolves with five goals and two assists for 12 points.

Elizabeth Sarfo-Benson recorded three saves in goal for IU East.

The Red Wolves are back in action with a conference contest at IU Columbus on Thursday, Oct. 9. The match starts at 4:30 p.m.
