Women's Soccer: IU East 2, IU Columbus 0

COLUMBUS, Ind. - With a goal in each half, the Indiana University East women’s soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over IU Columbus on Thursday, Oct. 9.

The Red Wolves are 6-4-2 with a 3-1 mark in the River States Conference, while the Crimson Pride falls to 2-7-2, 0-4.

Rylee Meyer put the Red Wolves on top late in the first period at the Richard J. Wigh Soccer Center as she scored her first goal of the season at 42:30. Maddie Moore was credited with the assist.

Late in the second half, Asia Espiritu recorded the final tally for IU East at 82:35. It was Espiritu's sixth goal of the fall. Vanessa Temple picked up the assist, which was her second of the season.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Sarfo-Benson had two saves for the Red Wolves.

Next up for IU East is a Senior Day match against Brescia University at Eaton High School on Saturday, Oct. 11. The RSC contest begins at 2 p.m.

Meyer and Temple along with the other seniors Maya Diceanu, Ashlee Haput, Amyah Thacker and Ava Wittrock will be recognized prior to the affair.
