Women's Soccer: IU East 6, SMWC 0

ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's soccer team won its fifth straight match with a 6-0 victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods College on Saturday, Oct. 18.

IU East is now 8-4-2 overall and 5-1 in River States Conference. The Pomeroys are 1-11-1 and 1-5.

Maya Diceanu gave the Red Wolves a 1-0 lead in the opening period with a goal at 39:13 with an assist from Zaryah Griffin.

In the second half, the Red Wolves put the match away by scoring five times with the first one coming at 50:31 from Asia Espiritu.

Vanessa Temple made it 3-0 at 60:45 with assists from Espiritu and Mia Runyan. Griffin added an unassisted goal at 75:35 before Runyan picked up a goal with Temple helping off a corner kick at 77:09.

IU East's final tally was by Aubree Brown at 84:24 with assist from Katherine Lopez Cruz.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Sarfo-Benson had five saves for the Red Wolves before giving way to Kendall Harter late in the contest.

Next up for IU East is another road trip to WVU Tech on Thursday, Oct. 23. The contest gets underway at 7 p.m.
