Red Wolves Defeat IU Kokomo 4-3
RICHMOND, Ind. – The IU East women's tennis team completed the comeback to defeat IU Kokomo on Friday for the 4-3 win.
The win gives the Red Wolves a 6-5 overall record and a 2-2 mark in conference.
IU East dropped the doubles point as the Cougars grabbed the first point of the match. They were able to take No. 4 singles for the 2-0 lead before Amonette Theron won her No. 3 Singles match in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. Eva Caballero won her No. 2 Singles 6-1, 6-4 before Linda Marino won at No. 1 Singles 6-2, 6-4.
The last point of the match was decided at No. 6 Singles. Kerstin Ellis won the opening set 6-4 but fell 6-2 in the second. In the deciding match, she was able to take care of business and win 6-0 to clinch the victory for the Red Wolves.
IU East will be honoring five seniors before the match on Saturday against IU Southeast. The match will be at Glen Miller Park at 11 a.m.
