Track and Field: Indiana Tech Recap

FT. WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams competed at the Indiana Tech Invitational on Friday, Jan. 19.

The Red Wolves came away with a victory and 15 top 10 finishes at the Doug Edgar Indoor Track Facility.

Cameron Nocton won the 3,000-meter Racewalk with a time of 14:03.89. While his time was a NAIA "A" Standard, Nocton already qualified for the national meet back in December with a time of 13.52.13.

The Racewalk was combined with men and women as Austin Wenta was sixth in 17:22.56, while Eleanor Hasenour was 10th in a IU East record time of 20.10.41, which is currently 17th best in the nation.

India Benton was the only athlete to finish in the top 10 in two events. She was fifth in the 400 meters (1:02.88) and seventh in the 200 meters (27.10).

The top finish for the women was fourth as Cassandra Schrubb established a new school record in the 3,000 meters (10:56.84).

Others in the top 10 for the women were Anna Johnston (sixth in 800, 2:51.66), Loryn Metzcar (sixth in shot put, 11.00 meters) and Abby Page (10th in mile, 5:49.04).

On the men's side in the top 10 were Denis Kale (fourth in 800, 2:05.48), Braden Coate (fifth in 3,000, 9:01.58), Richard Bower (seventh in 3,000, 9:09.69), Kyler Shultz (eighth in weight throw, 14.57 meters), Ty Williams (ninth in shot put, 13.95 meters) and Teagen Rodriguez (10th in mile, 4:35.90).

The Red Wolves return to action at the Taylor University Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27.
