Indoor Track & Field: Trojan Invite Recap
UPLAND, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams participated in the Trojan Invite at Taylor University on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The Red Wolves had three athletes finish in second place second inside the Kesler Student Activities Center with new IU East records established.
Loryn Metzcar led the women's squad as she was second in the shot put with a distance of 11.80, which surpassed her own school standard.
On the men's side in second place were Kyler Shultz (weight throw, 15.45 meters) and Teagen Rodriguez (mile, 4:25.90). Schultz and Rodriguez both set new records.
The other women with top five finishes were Brooke Sudhoff (third, pole vault, 3.02 meters), Cassandra Schrubb (fourth, mile, 5:21.33, record), Naleya Kinney (fourth, long jump, 4.72 meters), Frantysha Wallace (fifth, long jump, 4.70 meters) and Hannah Best (fifth, 800, 2:32.77).
Also in the top five for the men were Schultz (fourth, shot put, 13.76 meters) and Layne Beard (fourth, weight throw, 13.50 meters).
The 1,600-meter relay team of DeAndre Hall, Anthony Laux, Denis Kale and AJ Ludwig was fifth in 3:38.28.
Next up for IU East is the Indiana Wesleyan University Midwest Classic on Saturday, Feb. 3.
