Indoor Track & Field: IU East at RSC Championships Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Indiana University East track and field teams are set to compete in the 2024 River States Conference Indoor Championships at the Chieftain Center on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The field events begin at 9:30 a.m., while the races on the track start at noon with the 5,000-meter run.

Doors open at 9 a.m. Admission is $5.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* IU East's men won the team title in 2020. Last season, the men finished second as the women were seventh. Point Park University won both of the team championships in 2023.

* Athletes finishing in the top three in an event earn all-conference honors. The top eight places score in the meet.

* Cameron Nocton (3,000-meter Race Walk) and Teagen Rodriguez (1,000 meters) are returning individual champions for IU East from 2023.

* Rodriguez, AJ Ludwig and Kyle Stanley are back from the Distance Medley Relay squad that was victorious last season.

* The Red Wolves have two top seeds with Nocton leading the way in the Race Walk and Cassandra Schrubb at the top of the list in the 5,000 meters.

* Nocton has already qualified for the NAIA National Championships as he reached the "A" standard with a time of 13:52.13 at the Indiana Tech Warrior Invitational back in December.

* In addition to her time of 18:40.05 in the 5,000 meters, Schrubb is ranked second in the mile (5:18.18) and third in the 3,000 meters (10:51.26).

* Other Red Wolves ranked in the top three of their events are Brooke Sudhoff (third, pole vault, 3.05 meters), Loryn Metzcar (third, weight throw, 12.54 meters) and Kyler Shultz (third, weight throw, 16.13 meters).
