Outdoor Track: IU East Weekend Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams are back in action this weekend with a pair of meets.

The Red Wolves will be competing in the 5,000-meter race walk at Marian University's Knight Open on Friday, March 27. The rest of the team will take part in the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open at Cedarville University on Saturday, March 28.

At Marian, the race walk at Ascension St. Vincent Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Saturday's meet at Cedarville's Yellow Jacket Track & Field Complex begins at 10 a.m.

* There were four school records set as IU East opened the outdoor season at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational last week in South Carolina.

* The new marks for the Red Wolves were by Hunter Allen (men's mile, 4:15.72), Samantha Fowler (women's 5,000 meters, 18:55.83), Carson Shepherd (men's pole vault, 4.26 meters) and Vanessa Temple (women's 400-meter hurdles, 1:05.11).

* The River States Conference Outdoor Championships will be at the University of Rio Grande on May 1-2.

* The NAIA National Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 20-22 in Asheville, N.C.
