Outdoor Track: IU East at JennaStrong Invitational Day 1 Recap

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Indiana University East track and field teams opened the JennaStrong Track & Field Invitational at Wilmington College on Friday, April 3.

Kayci Hill led the Red Wolves as she won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a freshman record time of 11:45.16.

Hill was followed by Mylee Shatto (12:33.94) in second, Lily Hart (12:57.17) in fourth, Savanna Smith (13:15.95) in fifth and Kendra Shipman (13:26.08) in sixth.

Adam Kopt had the top performance for the men as he was second in the javelin with a distance of 39.75 meters. Tristan Thomas (28.41) was next for the Red Wolves in fourth place. Carson Shepherd (34.70) was fifth, while Layne Beard (33.96) was sixth. Beard was also sixth in the men's hammer with 46.20 meters.

In the women's javelin, Alyssa Allen (25.89) was fourth with Emilee Earl (25.00) in fifth and Zoe Ogden (24.09) in sixth.

Saturday's action at the Beckett Track & Field Facility in Williams Stadium starts with the field events are at 11 a.m. Races on the track get underway at 1 p.m.
