Outdoor Track: IU East at JennaStrong Invitational Day 2 Recap
WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Indiana University East track and field teams finished the JennaStrong Track & Field Invitational at Wilmington College with the women winning the event and the men taking second on Saturday, April 4.
The Red Wolves were first with 161 points ahead of Wilmington (156), Thomas More (107), Earlham (70), Mount St. Joseph (60) and Hanover (26). On the men's side at the Beckett Track & Field Facility in Williams Stadium, Wilmington won with 179 points followed by IU East (111), Mount St. Joseph (96), Thomas More (95), Hanover (71) and Earlham (22).
IU East had 10 individual winners, while the Red Wolves were also victorious in both 400-meter relays with school record times.
Antaviyon Reed, Jaiden Crowell, Miguel Mendez Jr. and Tristan Thomas posted a time of 41.76 seconds in the men's 400-meter relay. For the women, the group of Audrey Harper, Vanessa Temple, Esther George and Mackenzie Rohde won in 49.17 seconds.
Individual winners setting IU East records were Hunter Allen (men's 1,500, 4:00.67), Rohde (women's 400, 58.34), Temple (women's 400 hurdles, 1:04.22) and Chloe Scales (women's 5,000, 18:54.71).
George won the women's 100 hurdles (16.13) and women's 100 (13.11). Other winners for IU East were Thomas (men's 100, 11.06), Emily Fleming (women's 800, 2:20.90), Akot Tong (men's 800, 1:55.63) and Carson Shepherd (men's pole vault, 3.90 meters).
While Naleya Kinney was second in the women's long jump, she did have a school record distance of 5.14 meters.
Next up for the Red Wolves is a trip to Kentucky for the Asbury Invitational on Friday, April 10.
