Lady Pioneers hammer Harriers


(Richmond, IN) The IU East Lady Pioneers continued their impressive early season performance.

Last night's victory over Miami University- Hamilton epitomized a complete and total team victory.

The Lady Harriers played valiantly but in the end were outhustled, outhit, and outplayed by a deep and dangerous Lady Pioneers squad.

The Lady Pioneers won in 3 games; 30-13, 30-14, and 30-9 to run their season record to 8-0.

Amanda Martin set the tempo by accumulating 33 assists in the match, and her solid play allowed the hitting combination of Amy Stultz and Allison Hoveln to hammer kill after kill.

Stultz and Hoveln combined for 24 kills in 42 attempts with only 9 errors for a .357 kill%.

The Lady Pioneers also received stellar play from their back line in the form of Kim Gerlach and Tera Brown. They combined to receive the ball 47 times with only 3 errors. More impressive is that they recorded 15 digs each.

As a team they recorded 38 kills in 82 attempts for a .244 kill%, 14 aces, 51 digs, and only 6 errors.

It was a very well-balanced attack and an impressive team victory.

The Lady Pioneers continue their home stand against the Wright State Lakers on Friday night at 6:30 PM at the Richmond Athletic Club.
