Trio Earns AVCA Awards

RICHMOND, Ind. – Reece Shirley, Jessica Swimm, and Teah Barrett Matthews continued to receive postseason accolades.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association named Shirley and Swimm as first team selections for the Midcentral Region. Barrett Matthews was named as an honorable mention selection.

Swimm earns the award weeks after being selected the River States Conference Player of the Year. Swimm led the conference in kills with 490 kills overall and ranks seventh in the nation in total kills, fifth in kills per set with 4.49.

Shirley claimed RSC Setter of the Year while finishing the regular season with 1,250 assists, good for tenth in the nation. Her assists per set was 11.16, ranking sixth in the nation. She was the leader in assists in the conference by 290.

Barrett Matthews finished with a .328 hitting percentage, which was good for 24th in the nation.

The Red Wolves finished the year with a 27-9 record after losing in the opening round of the NAIA Tournament against Bellevue (Neb.).
