Women's Volleyball: Onset Tournament Preview
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's volleyball team travels to Fort Wayne this weekend for the fourth annual Onset Invitational, which is hosted by the University of St. Francis.
The Red Wolves open the event in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum with a rematch against Spring Arbor University on Friday, Aug. 22. The contest gets underway at 12:45 p.m. Spring Arbor beat the Red Wolves in last weekend's finale of the Palm Beach Juniors Volleyball Classic at Keiser University. Friday's other match is against Cornerstone University at 5:15 p.m.
On Saturday, IU East faces Indiana Tech at 9 a.m. The fourth affair of the weekend is versus Columbia International University at 1:15 p.m.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW
* IU East began the season by winning three of four contests at the Palm Beach Juniors Volleyball Classic at Keiser University.
* The Red Wolves were also 3-1 last season at the Onset Invitational with victories over Lawrence Tech University, Indiana Tech and Xavier University of Louisiana before falling to Marian University.
* Ella Bickel (defender) and Aislyn Hogan (setter) were named River States Conference Players of the Week for their performances in Florida.
* Spring Arbor went undefeated last weekend in West Palm Beach at Keiser, which included a 25-13, 17-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13 win over IU East.
* Cornerstone is playing for the first time this season as the Golden Eagles open with No. 22 Marian University at 10:30 a.m. The Golden Eagles, who were 20-11 last fall, are picked to finish third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
* Indiana Tech is also a member of the WHAC as the Warriors were second in the preseason poll after posting a 27-11 mark in 2024. IU East defeated Indiana Tech 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 in last year's Onset Invitational. Friday marks the beginning of the season for the Warriors as they meet the University of the Cumberlands and Columbia International.
* Located in South Carolina, Columbia International starts its season with No. 8 IU Kokomo and Indiana Tech on Friday. The Rams were picked second in the Appalachian Athletic Conference preseason poll behind Reinhardt University. The Rams were 35-4 last season and dropped an opening round contest to Marian University in the NAIA National Championships.
* Cornerstone, Indiana Tech and Columbia International all received votes in the latest NAIA national poll.
