Women's Volleyball: Onset Tournament Day 2 Recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's volleyball team finished its weekend at the fourth annual Onset Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 23.

IU East fell to Indiana Tech 27-25, 25-15, 25-18 in the first contest in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The second match of the day ended with a 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22 loss to Columbia International University.

Noema Philistin-Lynch led IU East with 10 kills against Indiana Tech as Alayna Barrett and Elaina Wehrman both added six kills.

Carli Cox finished with 14 assists and five aces for the Red Wolves, while Ella Bickel led the way with 26 digs.

In the match with Columbia International, Philistin-Lynch had a team-high 21 kills with Barrett adding 14 kills.

Cox had 41 assists along with 13 digs and four aces. Wehrman contributed eight kills and 15 digs.

Bickel topped IU East with 23 digs as Abby Herman had 16 digs.

Next up for the Red Wolves (3-5) is a trip to Huntington University on Tuesday, Aug. 26. The non-conference affair begins at 6 p.m. Indiana Tech was 2-1 after playing the Red Wolves, while Columbia International is now 1-3.
