Women's Volleyball: Weekend Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's volleyball team is on the road this weekend as the Red Wolves travel for a pair of River States Conference matches against West Division squads.

IU East visits Oakland City University on Friday, Oct. 17. That contest in the Johnson Center gets underway at 7 p.m. (IU East time). 

On Saturday, the Red Wolves are at Brescia University in the Moore Center at 2 p.m. (IU East time).

The Red Wolves are 11-16 overall and 4-5 in the RSC East, which puts them in third place as IU East is coming off a 25-15, 25-15, 25-23 loss at home to IU Southeast last Saturday.

Oakland City is 11-11 with a 2-7 mark in the West that has the Mighty Oaks in fifth position. Oakland City won 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 25-20 victory at WVU Tech last weekend.

Brescia is 6-15 and 1-8 in the RSC West heading into Friday's home contest against Midway University.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* Ella Bickel was recently named the RSC Defender of the Week and the NAIA Defender of the Week. Bickel had 75 digs for the Red Wolves in the two matches last weekend with a school record 50 in the win over IU Columbus.

* Eva Hamann led Oakland City with 10 kills against WVU Tech, while Libby Mehringer had 21 assists with seven kills.

* Brescia has dropped four straight including a 25-20, 25-13, 25-9 decision at the University of Rio Grande on Oct. 11.
