Women's Cross Country: John McNichols Invitational Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's cross country team is back in action this weekend as the Red Wolves compete in the 2024 John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State University on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The women's 6K race on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course starts at 9:45 a.m.

There are 44 schools expected for the event, which includes the River States Conference squad from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* This fall is the first time that IU East's women have earned votes in the national poll. The next national poll will be released on Thursday, Sept. 26.

* Cassandra Schrubb set a 6K school record for the Red Wolves with a 23:21.8 during her last race in the Wildcat Twilight Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday, Sept. 6.

* As a team, IU East finished eighth out of 22 schools.

* The other top times for the Red Wolves in the event at IWU were Chloe Scales 24:38.9, Emily Fleming 25:08.4, Samantha Fowler 25:33.4, Makenzee Kahn 26:00.4, Evelyn Hasenour 26:29.7 and Savanna Smith 26:44.9.
