Women's Cross County: Red Wolves 11th in Michigan
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In field of 10 ranked teams, the Indiana University East women's cross country finished 11th at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Top-ranked Taylor University won the 5K event. IU East, which received votes in the latest NAIA national poll, beat the other five schools in the field that also picked up votes.
Heidi Heldt of Olivet Nazarene University was top runner out of 187 competitors in the Maroon race with a time of 17:28 on the course at Riverside Park.
Emily Fleming was 20th to lead IU East with a time of 18:21.10.
IU East other runners were Kayci Hill 18:34.80 (28th), Chloe Scales 18:43.00 (32nd), Stella Cornelius 19:35.00 (113th), Makenzee Kahn 20:08.10 (141st), Ella Claypoole 20:10.80 (143rd), Sophie Harris 20:11.60 (144th), Samantha Fowler 20:20.20 (145th), Casey Gifford 20:51.40 (165th) and Hunter Gardner 21:38.00 (178).
The Red Wolves are back on the course at the River States Conference Championships hosted by the University Rio Grande on Saturday, Nov. 8.
