Men's Basketball IU East 75, Bluefield 61

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team had four players in the double figures as the Red Wolves beat Bluefield University 75-61 in "The Show" on Saturday, Nov. 26.

The Red Wolves are now 4-3 with two wins in the row, while Bluefield is 3-5 having lost three straight.

Bryce Long led IU East with 16 points in the contest at the MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center.

Jake Johnson finished with 14 points for the Red Wolves as Colt Meyer tossed in 13 points. Lorenzo Lewis added 10 points for IU East with a game-high eight rebounds. Two other Red Wolves were close to double digits as Jamisen Smith and Kobe Ward both contributed nine points.

IU East started the affair with eight consecutive points to take control as the Rams would never lead.

When Long drilled one of his four 3-pointers on the day at the 2:43 mark in the opening half, the Red Wolves had their largest advantage in the game at 35-20. IU East led 38-26 at the intermission.

In the second half, Bluefield rallied with a 14-4 to close the gap to 42-40 with 15:43 remaining.

However, the Red Wolves had an answer. When Smith scored with 9:06 left to play, IU East had widened its margin to 58-48 and the Red Wolves were on their way to the victory.

Overall, IU East is 8-3 in five appearances in "The Show." The Red Wolves also are 3-0 all-time against Bluefield with wins in 2011 and 2020.

Next up for the Red Wolves is their finale in the event on Sunday, Nov. 27. IU East plays Crowley's Ridge College for the first time ever at 2:30 p.m.

Crowley's Ridge is 1-7 after Saturday's 88-78 loss to Oakland City University. Braxton Cousins led the Pioneers with 23 points against the Mighty Oaks.
