Red Wolves Claim OT Victory Over Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. – For the third time in a row, the IU East men's basketball team has gone into overtime.

Thankfully this time, the Red Wolves were able to win this one as they defeated Brescia77-73.

Colt Meyer again was the lead man for the Red Wolves, this time dropping 32 points. Jake Johnson came off the bench to score 20 as the only two in double-figures.

After a quick field goal from the Red Wolves' Lorenzo Lewis, the Bearcats took the lead for the rest of the first half. They lead by as much as 11 but IU East kept cutting the deficit down to four with three minutes. Brescia ended the half with a 5-0 run to get their lead back up to nine.

In the second, Brescia never trailed. The only time they were tied was at the end of the game. Bryce Long made two clutch free throws with four seconds left. The Red Wolves erased an 8-point deficit in the last 1:55.

In OT, Meyer scored the first five points for IUE. He gave the Red Wolves a 3-point lead after a triple with 3:39 to play. Tied 71-71 with 2:20 left, Johnson's jumper gave IUE the lead. Meyer scored the last four points, all from the charity stripe to clinch the victory for the Red Wolves.

With the win, IUE improves to 5-5 on the year and 2-2 in RSC play.

They will travel to Midway next Saturday.
